About William Taylor.
William Taylor is a Civil Engineer, Residential Builder and Lawyer of the Supreme Court of NSW, specialising in the resolution of disputes in the building and construction industry.
He has more than 20 years’ experience in the fields of Arbitration, Expert Determination, Dispute Avoidance Boards, Security of Payment Adjudication, Court References, Facilitation and Mediation and over 35 years’ experience as a civil engineer, licensed builder and construction consultant.
William has experience on major civil construction projects including roads, dams, tunnels, railways, water treatment works and bridges, together with hands-on experience as a residential building contractor. For over 25 years, as director of Build and Civil Pty Ltd, William also provided reports and expert evidence on residential building defects in the Supreme Court of NSW, the District Court of NSW and the NSW Civil and Administrative Tribunal.

ARBITRATION
Commercial Arbitration under State and Federal Commercial Arbitration legislation. William obtained Grade 2 Arbitration grading in 2002 and has since acted as an Arbitrator in a range of commercial and construction disputes.
EXPERT DETERMINATION
Determination of disputes under a contractual arrangement formulated with the parties. Since 2000, William has undertaken numerous expert determinations involving land development, high rise and low rise multi-unit residential developments, single dwellings, industrial complexes, telecommunications, civil works and educational projects in Queensland, New South Wales and Victoria.
ADJUDICATION
Adjudicator under the Building and Construction Industry Security of Payment Act (NSW). William has completed more than 150 adjudications involving civil works, educational and commercial developments, hospital maintenance, materials handling, mine development and residential building work.
DISPUTE AVoiDANCE BOARDS
Standing dispute avoidance panels embedded in major infrastructure projects. William has been serving on a Dispute Avoidance Board for a major road infrastructure project in NSW since 2016.
COURT APPOINTED REFEREE
Disputes referenced out of the Supreme and District Courts of NSW under the Uniform Civil Procedure Rules 2005 (NSW). William has completed several Court referrals involving multi-story mixed use residential unit developments in Newcastle and Sydney.
MEDIATION
Facilitation of party negotiations with the view to reaching a settlement in the parties’ interests. William has acted as mediator on a range of disputes over 25 years.
FACILITATION
Facilitation of party negotiations during Court proceedings. William’s dispute resolution work involves facilitation of parties and their experts in conclave and the preparation of joint reports.

William Taylor
William (Bill) Taylor has qualifications in Civil Engineering, Law and Dispute Resolution as well as National Civil Engineering Registration (IEAust), accreditation as an Arbitrator (Grade 2), Adjudicator (NSW and TAS), and Mediator with the Resolution Institute and accreditation as a Construction Consultant (Master Builders Association of NSW).
In dispute resolution, William has a broad practice as an Arbitrator, Expert Determiner, Adjudicator, Dispute Advisory Board Member, Court Referee, and Mediator, spanning more than 20 years. He also has extensive experience as an expert witness in residential building disputes and home warranty and general insurance claims. Before this, Bill worked for over 20 years in the on-site management of major civil engineering projects and a hands-on residential building contractor.
William is actively involved as a Determinative Committee Member of the Resolution Institute and as a Councillor and Chair of the Audit Committee of the Master Builders Association of NSW.
